The alleged murder of a nine-year-old boy in Queensland’s north has been labelled “abhorrent” by investigating police. The boy had been under the care of a 24-year-old woman, loosely connected to him, when he sustained a significant head injury some eight hours before emergency services were called to their Townsville home for a welfare check, according to police. The boy was found lifeless and declared dead at the scene about 7pm on Saturday.
” Miles said that there was nothing unusual when police first arrived at the Charles St address after a relative had raised concerns over the boy’s welfare, and that it was a “normal suburban household”. However, police soon found the body of the boy with a significant head injury, believed to have been caused by blunt force trauma. Other children, belonging to the 24-year-old, were at the home at the time and were taken away by police.
