More than 100 students at Tasmania's Launceston university campus were forced to move out of their accommodation after the electrical union refused to fix an ongoing power outage because of industrial action.

Although other students have moved to the Newnham campus, with meals provided by the university, he's opted to stay off-campus.Students have found themselves displaced due to the power outages and delays due to industrial action."This long a power cut is a bit unusual … and a bit inconvenient but the university is doing its best to support us."
"My understanding is TasNetworks is trying to fast-track some contractors to get them in to potentially do that repair work so whether they've had adequate training, I'm not sure," he said.
