When the coronavirus pandemic virtually sent Australia into lockdown, the demand for prawns plummeted and trawlers were sent to the docks for the foreseeable future.Some of them have taken the opportunity to upskill and make themselves more employable
But the workers from the Torres Strait Trawling Company in Far North Queensland have found a reprieve at a supermarket in the outback town of Cloncurry. Ronald Wenless, who skippered a boat for the company, said it was a position he had never been put in after decades in the industry."This would be the first time I've ever seen something like this in my time fishing."Upskilling for the next downturn
