"Members are ready to step up and take action and keep on taking action until they are recognised as the health professionals they are," she said. Paramedics are on call at sporting events as there can be big injuries which is why health professionals are on standby on the field. So instead of a paramedic being on-site at a sporting event like the NRL final series or horse racing events, ambulances will need to be dispatched from a nearby station for an emergency.HSU delegate and paramedic Tess Oxley said health workers want recognition from the government."The sporting professionals know the importance of having us there, they may just say we can't ride, we can't play because it's not worth the risk," she added.
