Former PwC chief executives Luke Sayers and Tom Seymour have lined up against Kevin Burrowes’ secretive arrangement with PwC International, saying partners would perceive a conflict of interest and the salary secrecy goes against fundamental PwC principles.
“I would be willing to bet a lot that the Australian partners perceive there to be a conflict. Are you working for our interests or global’s interests? That’s my personal view – it’s hard to manage.” Australian partners were not informed of Burrowes’ second $1.2 million salary and services agreement with PwC International until shortly before it was due to become public at a Senate hearing. The arrangement was kept secret from all but the governance board for almost a year.
