More horror stories are plaguing Australia’s national carrier Qantas - which it says highlights a broader issue in the aviation industry. 7NEWS

In a separate case earlier this week, several planeloads of passengers were forced to sleep on the floor of a rural airport after fog impeded their journey.

Passenger Matt Murphy told 7NEWS.com.au it wasn’t the inconvenience that annoyed him so much, it was the lack of communication. “By the time the fog lifted, unfortunately, our crew were out of hours which meant that they couldn’t safely operate back to Perth that night,” Qantas Link Chief Operating Officer Petrea Bradford said.The Transport Workers’ Union points the finger at the airline outsourcing jobs overseas in late 2020.

“Restarting an airline after a two-year grounding is complex and aviation labour markets, as with many others, are extremely tight,” Qantas Domestic and International CEO Andrew David said in a statement.
