Police have charged a 32-year-old woman from central Queensland with five counts of attempted murder after she allegedly crashed the 4WD she was driving on purpose.
The woman was driving the Nissan X-trail along the Kennedy Highway near Atherton in the Tablelands on June 26, with four children aged between three months and nine years and a 43-year-old man inside the car.
Police allege the woman deliberately travelled off the road and crashed into a sign, flipping the vehicle.One of the children was allegedly sitting in the vehicle's boot and without a proper restraint at the time.The abandoned 4WD was spotted by the side of the road by a member of the public. The next day, police were called to the woman's home where it's alleged she assaulted two of the children - a 3-month-old baby girl and a 2-year-old girl.The woman has been charged with multiple domestic offences, including five counts of attempted murder and one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed.If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic and family violence, you should report it to police.
