The network has asked the Federal Court to refuse the public release of parts of key court documents as a former journalist on its Spotlight program seeks compensation.
Seven has asked the Federal Court to suppress parts of key court documents including potentially “salacious” communications after a former journalist on its flagshipAmelia Saw last month filed proceedings under the Fair Work Act against her former employer, alleging the program created a hostile working environment for women.Lawyers for the parties appeared in court in Sydney on Friday for a preliminary hearing in the dispute.
Seven contended there should “never be access to those documents” containing the extracts because they should not be permitted to be included in that document, Eastman said. She submitted the amendments should not be allowed.Eastman submitted that the public release of the material would result in positions being “hardened going into mediation”.
Boncardo said Seven had already issued statements saying it “strongly and categorically rejects” Saw’s allegations. Eastman said the claim involved allegations about workplace conversations and workplace events where there might be differences of opinion and recollections about what was said.
