A second man has been apprehended following a high-speed chase through Sydney's southwest that involved shots fired at police.
A second man has been arrested after fleeing from police following a dramatic pursuit through Sydney 's south-west earlier this week. The man, aged 20, was arrested by Australian Federal Police officers at Brisbane Airport on Friday, with detectives set to travel to Queensland to apply for the man’s extradition.The incident stemmed from an attempted home break-in at Edensor Park. Police had been called to a property on Calaria Close about 1.
30am after reports a man had tried to break in to the home. Officers spotted the car travelling on Cowpasture Road in Hinchinbrook a short time later, but the driver allegedly sped off when police attempted to stop the vehicle. Shots were allegedly fired at the officers when they began pursuing the duo, with bullets striking the front bonnet of the police car. The Hyundai then crashed about 1.50am on St Andrews Road in Varroville, located between Raby and Denham Court, after road spikes were deployed. The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and remains before the court. He faces nine offences, including special aggravated break and enter with intent (armed with dangerous weapon), take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period, and police pursuit (not stop - drive recklessly). He has also been charged with possessing an unauthorised pistol, possessing a loaded firearm in a public place, possessing an unauthorised prohibited firearm, possessing or using a military-style weapon without a permit, and being armed with an intent to commit an indictable offence.Police seized two pistols, an assault rifle, and other weapons during a search of the vehicle, while a'number of spent cartridges' were also allegedly found at the scen
