A leading mining technology company specializing in advanced analytics and solutions is searching for a seasoned Senior SQL Server Developer to join their Sandton office. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in designing, optimizing, and maintaining complex stored procedures within the SQL Server environment.
This position necessitates strong problem-solving abilities, the capacity to design and document technical solutions, and effective communication skills to ensure alignment with business needs. This is a full-time, on-site position.The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining stored procedures, functions, and queries to support various front-end teams, including cloud, site, and mobile teams. An integral part of this role is analyzing and optimizing existing SQL code to enhance performance and guarantee efficient data handling. Collaboration will be key, working closely with multiple front-end teams to ensure seamless integration between applications and the database. The Senior SQL Server Developer will collaborate with the CTO to comprehend business requirements and propose SQL Server-based solutions that address those needs.Detailed technical documentation outlining proposed solutions, encompassing design rationale, implementation steps, and potential risks, will be a crucial task. This documentation will be presented to the CTO for review and approval before implementation. The role also involves integrating and managing SQL stored procedures within GitHub, ensuring effective collaboration and version control in a multi-developer environment. The candidate must effectively manage workloads and deliver high-quality solutions under pressure and within tight deadlines. Providing expert support for any database-related issues, ensuring high availability and reliability across all platforms is also essential. While these incidents are infrequent, the successful candidate should be willing to contribute to on-call support as needed.This position requires a proven track record of developing complex stored procedures for transactional and operational systems (not ETL-focused). Experience with SSRS report generation and deployment is highly desirable. A strong ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions, document these solutions effectively, and communicate them to stakeholders for approval is crucial. Familiarity with cloud technologies and database migration processes is beneficial. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and the capacity to work under pressure are essential qualities for this role.
