The cluster linked to a Melbourne school in Truganina has exploded from just a handful of family-related cases eight days ago to 90
The infection has spread from what is believed to have been a small family outbreak in western suburban Truganina, first tracked just eight days ago on June 29.
The school did not respond to a request for comment, but has issued a statement defending its hygiene and social distancing regime. The school said staff were directed to abide by social distancing guidelines and that hygiene posters and hand sanitiser had been placed around the buildings."However, unfortunately, this is out of our hands, as it is with quite a few other schools around Victoria, around the nation and around the world, which is quite saddening."When Al-Taqwa College returned to face-to-face learning in term two it directed staff "not to be complacent" and to maintain a distance of 1.
