Severe thunderstorms have triggered flash flooding in Sydney as a weather system rolled over the city, while a woman’s body has been found in the NSW Snowy Monaro region after police were told she was swept away by floodwaters.Rapidly developing storms formed over southern Sydney and moved north.At 11.45am on Friday, the Bureau of Meteorology said severe thunderstorms were detected near Sydney city, Sydney Airport, Sydney Olympic Park, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Campbelltown.
“Police were told the female occupant exited the car, before being swept away by floodwaters,” NSW Police said in a statement.About 7.15am, the woman’s body was found downstream and recovered by the SES.A report will be prepared for the coroner.
