John Pesutto received a mixed reaction at a Liberal gathering on Saturday, with applause drowned out by chants of 'shame' and 'disgrace' as the fallout from the Moira Deeming expulsion continues.
Mr Pesutto went on to explain what a"great honour" it was to make his first address to the meeting as state leader.
