A horse owned by the late Shane Warne was involved in a freak accident today, in its first race since his death.

But, running from the inside barrier, just 100 metres into the 1500m race, disaster struck, as Sacred Oath was cut off and forced into a collision with the barrier, sending jockey Ryan Maloney flying.

Maloney and the horse are both reported to be ok. The hoop suffered a minor head knock, and was monitored my paramedics at the venue.Connections of the horse, although relieved no serious harm was caused, were devastated by the result.Syndicate manager Jarred Magnabosco told Wide World of Sports he couldn't believe what had happened.
