Shadow foreign affairs minister Simon Birmingham has revealed his next role in the private sector after he announced he will leave politics at the next election.Shadow foreign affairs minister Simon Birmingham has been appointed as the new Head of Asia Pacific Engagement and Chairman for South Australia at ANZ Bank.

During his time in politics, he has served as Trade Minister, Finance Minister and Education Minister. ANZ Group CEO Shayne Elliott welcomed the appointment as an opportunity to “help ANZ” and its customers to “create opportunities” across the region. “His understanding of many of the state’s key industries … will help drive opportunities for our South Australian customers, including those exporting to the world.”
