A man has pulled in what may be the largest Murray Cod ever caught on film from a drought-stricken region of Queensland.

Rob Paxevanos was fishing Lake Glenlyon, over 250km inland from Byron Bay, when he hooked up to an estimated 1.4 metre, 100-pound Murray Cod. Fishing from a kayak in the dead of the night, Paxevanos hauled the fish aboard – and is now on a mission to encourage other anglers to pour their money into drought-stricken towns."It is an oasis in the drought, and if you ask me it's the place to be for big cod," said Mr Paxevanos.Murray Cod are one of the largest freshwater fish in the country, capable of growing up to 1.8 metres and weighing 113kg.
