Almost 500 kilometres away from smoke-covered Sydney, a group of courageous kids are getting the country dancing

Almost 500 kilometres away from smoke covered Sydney, a group of courageous children are getting the country dancing.

One of those areas is Trangie itself. The town boasts just 1188 people and has been ravaged by drought since mid-2017.“All the students are affected by this drought in some way,” Ms Wilson said. “They see the ways it affects our community and just want to do something positive.” There is no specific choreography for the dance, but the students are encouraging each school to film their #BustTheDust celebration and post it online.

“Our school children are often having to help out on their farms. They’re staying out later and waking up earlier to help before and after school," she said. "Not only are they having really mature conversations about the drought but they’re very perceptive when observing adult interactions … all of this is making them grow up earlier.”
