Researchers at Australian National University have spent a month testing Canberra's sewage system for traces of COVID-19.

"This coincides with the period that the ACT was declared free of any new coronavirus cases," ANU environmental epidemiologist and project lead, Dr Aparna Lal, said. Dr Lal said sewage testing allowed health authorities to effectively track the potential spread of viruses like COVID-19 outside of patient testing or hospital reporting.
