According to the government's latest projections, Australia may claim as much as 411 million tonnes of carbon-dioxide-equivalent "over-achievement" during the 2012-20 Kyoto period for the subsequent Paris period running 2021-30. The need to cut emissions wouldn't end with the 2030 period because "new levels of ambition" would be called for after then to curb climate change.
