The WA government says it is trying to attract skilled labour from Ireland and the UK to help address construction issues that make Perth the most expensive place in Australia to build — according to an international survey.

"Where we'd usually see four to six tender responses for government-based tenders, we are now seeing one, potentially zero," Mr Monaghan said. "We're going to have to really think about the way that we approach this tender by breaking it down into parts," he said.
