Commuters have been warned lengthy delays and travel disruptions may impact Sydney’s train network on Friday as protected industrial action continues at key stations.

Sydneysiders hoping to get to work on time have been urged to allow extra travel time on Friday morning with delays expected across most lines on the city’s train network due to protected industrial action.

“A shuttle train service will run on the T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line between Liverpool and Lidcombe only. Lines expected to be hit by delays include The North Shore & Western Line, the Lidcombe & Bankstown Line, the Blue Mountains Line, the Leppington & Inner West Line, the Airport & South Line, the Central Coast & Newcastle Line, the Northern Line and Liverpool & Inner West line.

“The past two weeks of intensive bargaining have resulted in very little movement at all,” the union’s NSW/ACT Secretary Allen Hicks said in a statement. “Our protected industrial action, while designed to cause a headache for management and not commuters, may inadvertently affect the running of some trains.”
