Greens leader Adam Bandt has declared 'Australia doesn't have a shortage of gas' as he confirmed he will negotiate with the government on its climate bill and argued new coal and gas project should not open.

"We’ve laid out our areas of concern, obviously the target is too weak, and it's not just us saying that, the Pacific Islands are saying that," he said on Sky News Australia. "One of those is making sure this bill is a genuine floor – that you can’t go below this proposal – another is making sure it’s not a ceiling, that it’ll be easy for governments that want to act, to act," Mr Bandt added.
Mr Bandt agreed it was a"fixable problem" and added he did not want the legislation to prevent future governments who wanted to do more to address the issue."It’s more about saying, at some stage, the penny is going to drop for this government or a future government, that they’ve got to do more.
