Andrew O’Dwyer and Geoffrey Keaton were both experienced firefighters and fathers of young children born within days of each other. NSWRFS Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons has paid tribute to them.
"They are grieving the loss of their extraordinary colleagues," Mr Fitzsimmons said.
"It’s not behaving like a fire should," he said. "It’s doing things like spotting against the wind, it’s highly unpredictable." "I deeply regret any offence caused to any of the many Australians affected by the terrible bushfires by my taking leave with family at this time," Mr Morrison said on Friday.
