Three people have died in a two-car crash on a highway in Tasmania’s south. 7NEWS
“The VW has collided heavily with the passenger side of the Corolla killing all three occupants,” police said.Three people died in a crash on the South Arm Highway at Sandford.The Volkswagen driver, a 20-year-old male from Rokeby and the passenger, a 20-year-old woman from South Arm were taken to Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
“It’s a devastating incident, to lose three lives in one crash is horrendous,” Inspector Luke Manhood told reporters.Anyone who witnessed the Toyota in the area prior to the crash or has any other information relating to the crash is urged to contact police on 131 444. Motorists were asked to avoid the area until the scene cleared with traffic being diverted down Rifle Range Road, Sandford, for southbound traffic and at Gellibrand Drive, Sandford, for northbound traffic.
