Donald Trump is on the cusp of becoming the third President in US history to be impeached, as Washington gears up for an historic day.
The Democrat-controlled House of Representatives is all but certain to vote in favour of impeaching Mr Trump, setting the scene for a trial in the Senate that could see him removed from office.
US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi opened debate on the impeachment of President Trump on Wednesday . Up to six hours of debate between the Republicans and the Democrats is expected to take place, ahead of the vote.
