Parkinson, 86, became one of the world’s most famous televisions hosts over five decades on air in Britain, the United States and Australia, conducting more than 2000 interviews with celebrities on his self-titled show including memorable encounters with Mohammad Ali, Fred Astaire, Helen Mirren, Peter Sellers, Ingrid Bergman and Sir Paul McCartney.sex scandals“Nonetheless his flamboyant attitude never failed to bring a smile to the face of his adoring public, and I was one of them.
He completed a sold-out two-hour show tour of Australia in 2019 but conceded it was likely the last time he would travel halfway across the world. In 2011, he became the first non-Australian to deliver the official Australia Day address.
