Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has accused a New Zealand journalist of “unethical” behaviour after she filmed him without permission during a private conversation.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has condemned a New Zealand journalist for filming him without consent during a private conversation with US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell .In the video, the Prime Minister joked that Washington might like to go “halvies” on the cost of a $400m Pacific Policing Initiative .Radio New Zealand journalist Lydia Lewis posted footage of the private interaction to X where it has received about 50,000 views – although she has less than 1,000 followers.
“If people are coming up behind trying to tape conversations, that’s up to people to argue themselves if that’s ethical.“It was a jovial conversation and a friendly one. It is what it is. People try to read something into it – You must be pretty bored, frankly.” “I talked with Kevin about it… We were going to do something and he asked us not to, so we did not – we’ve given you the lane, so take the lane,” Mr Campbell said in the video.
When pressed by a reporter if he planned to address the matter with Mr Rudd, the Prime Minister replied: “No… No. Chill out, people.”
