Australians will be able to fly non-stop from the Sunshine State to California this year after United Airlines launched new direct route thanks to the Attracting Aviation Investment Fund.
The announcement has been described as a “game changer” by the CEO of Brisbane Airport as it has the potential to boost passenger numbers into Queensland by about 80,000.
“These new services bring welcome news for jobs and the economy, and offer Queenslanders a direct connection to Silicon Valley and beyond. “Queensland exporters will also welcome the significant additional cargo capacity that comes with increasing the number of international flights to our state.” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the move will help inject about $73 million into the state’s economy.
