The teenager is being sentenced after fatally striking the parents-to-be as they crossed the road with their dogs on Australia Day 2021.
The mother of a teenage driver who fatally struck parents-to-be as they crossed the road with their dogs has been ordered to come to a Brisbane court to watch his sentencing.
The teenager’s sentencing was due to start on Tuesday morning, but was delayed initially by an hour because Queensland Corrective Services did not bring him into court from prison on the morning prisoner transfer. Burns ordered the teenager’s mother be contacted and asked again to come to court for her son’s sentencing on two murder charges and other lesser offences. The court heard the state could provide financial assistance to the teenager’s mother to cover the transport costs to Brisbane.
