Victoria and New South Wales residents have been urged to ensure they are vaccinated against measles after health authorities reported the first case in more than two years.
A Melbourne woman in her 30s, who acquired the infection while travelling to the UK and Italy, visited a busy pub and several restaurants while unknowingly infectious.
Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose and sore red eyes, followed by a red spotty rash which starts on the head and spreads to the rest of the body. "Many adults born during or after 1966 have only had one dose of measles vaccine. Anyone unsure of their vaccination history should see their GP for another dose, which is free of charge.
