Picture: David Crosling "We also, secondly, need Treaty because we know we need to change... that relationship between the state of Victoria and First Peoples in this state. "Excluded from the opportunities to practice culture, to have the equal opportunity to give their kids a good education, to get access to that healthcare and it's impacting on so many areas, in child protection, in incarceration rates, even in lifespan."

She said evidence from overseas indicated having a Treaty was the right way forward to improve outcomes for First Peoples. "We are really looking forward to sitting down with the government, having these important conversations," he said.
