Yesterday Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews warned it wouldn't be a "normal" weekend for many residents, as metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire head into the first weekend under new lockdown rules.
"That is what will deliver an effective strategy to suppress and control this and to allow us to move to a COVID normal. Not normal but a COVID normal."His comments came after the state recorded 288 new COVID-19 cases, the highest spike since the pandemic began. "If you don't want restrictions to be on any longer than they need to be, if you want to get to that COVID normal as quickly and safely as possible, we all have a part to play. Every single one of us. Let's make sure we're all vigilant this weekend and playing our part," he said.
