Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is set to lift the number of paid positions on government boards as part of a new diversity push.

Premier Andrews last year prioritised representation across public bodies, insisting they must “look like the communities” that are impacted by them.

“I think the next kind of frontier, if you like, is making sure that in other ways that our government boards, our courts, our Parliament, looks more like the community that we are all proud to represent. It comes after the state opposition highlighted the “jobs for mates” culture within the Labor Party under Mr Andrews.

Mr Foley, who was a regular fixture during the coronavirus pandemic, will now chair the Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation – which could attract a salary of up to $150,000.
