Wallabies shocks as squad for England series revealed | tomdecent
Dave Rennie has pulled a number of surprises in his first Wallabies squad of 2022 by leaving out Reece Hodge, Izack Rodda, Fraser McReight and Harry Johnson-Holmes, while including six uncapped players that includes Waratahs forwards Dave Porecki and Jed Holloway.
The Queensland Reds have seven representatives in the group, including former NRL flyer Suliasi Vunivalu who returns to the national set-up, while the Waratahs have six players set to join Wallabies camp next week on the Sunshine Coast before the first Test against England in Perth on July 2. The biggest surprise from a New South Wales perspective is the omission of Johnson-Holmes, who has been pipped by Rebels prop Pone Fa’amausili.Izack Rodda’s foot injury is worse than first thought. In a statement, Rennie said: “The core of this squad is a group who have performed strongly for us over the last two seasons, while strong form in Super Rugby Pacific has been rewarded with a handful of new faces.
