Two toddlers and a childcare worker were centimetres away from being hit by bullets after a failed gangland execution attempt outside a gym in Sydney's west last month.

Shocking CCTV footage from inside Croc's Playcentre in Prospect showed a young girl bouncing a ball while a teacher is playing with a baby on the floor.

Separate CCTV footage from the car park showed four men outside walking towards World Gym for their workout when bullets were fired towards them from a Mazda wagon. Police were called to the scene on Rowood Road around 11:35am on Monday November 29 after reports of gunshots. Criminal Groups Squad detectives are calling on for help from the public by releasing the CCTV footage.

Detective Superintendent Grant Taylor is also asking for anyone who was in the Blacktown area or near the location of the shooting at the time to check dash came footage.
