Under a new $71 million investment, student teachers will be paid for their final semester of placement in Queensland.
The Queensland government has outlined plans for a $71 million package to encourage more teachers to the profession.
As part of already-announced funding, pre-service teachers who complete their placement in those regions will receive a further $5,000. Education Minister Di Farmer said once people got to know an area they were more likely to stay and work. "It doesn't matter what region of Queensland, Australia, or even the world, and the education sector is not immune to that," Ms Farmer said.2020 election promises to hire more education staffThrough a workforce roundtable established earlier this year, Ms Farmer said she had met regularly with education stakeholders to ensure Queensland "can keep ahead of these challenges".
