A 20-year-old South Australian man has died after contracting invasive meningococcal disease, with 11 others urgently chased up by health authorities.

The man, from regional South Australia, contracted the serotype B strain of invasive meningococcal, SA Health said in a statement on Monday.Multiple people have been identified as having contact with the man prior to his death, with 11 of those people being directed to receive clearance antibiotics.Stream the latest health news with Flash.
