Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s salary will increase to more than $564,000 from next month.

Politicians, judges and senior public servants will get a 2.75 per cent pay rise from next month, taking Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s salary to more than $564,000.

The pay rise means even the lowest paid federal politician will earn more than 96 per cent of men and 98 per cent of women aged over 15, according to theIt will bring the prime minister’s salary, before additional allowances, to $564,356. The tribunal gives the PM a loading of 160 per cent over MPs base salaries.Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, who receives the base salary and an 85 per cent loading, will see his annual income before allowances increase to $401,561.

Former Morrison government cabinet ministers who were demoted to the opposition backbench no longer receive any loadings on top of the base salary. In government, they received a 72.5 per cent loading, equal to $157,368 at the new base figure., though the increase will still not be enough to keep pace with inflation.
