Iconic Australian comedian Barry Humphries has been hospitalised after experiencing complications from a hip replacement surgery.Sunrise Entertainment Editor Peter Ford broke the news on Wednesday morning, saying that Humphries will not “give up easily” and that he will be “back on stage” before the end of this year.
“Whether that’s a realistic goal, I don’t know … I am told that Barry’s health has worsened in the last week,” Ford said. Humphries has been travelling around the UK doing a one-man show, which largely involves sitting in a chair and talking about great characters he has played over the years.interview that he had been in “agony” since breaking his hip in February.
“It was the most ridiculous thing, like all domestic incidents are. I was reaching for a book, my foot got caught on a rug or something, and down I went,” he said.
