The ACT Supreme Court hears Michael Peacock, 42, pulled a knife to rob the woman as she walked to work because begging had failed to make him enough money to buy cigarettes and cannabis.

Michael Peacock, 42, pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated robbery, after the victim ran away screaming before falling and dropping her bag. The court heard that since the incident she suffers anxiety and struggles with simple tasks including walking around her own neighbourhood or going to the shops.
He also told the psychiatrist he was disappointed he'd landed back in jail after 10 years, and that if he runs out of money again he'll just wait for pay day.The psychiatrist told the court Peacock was experiencing schizophrenia and mental impairment at the time, but that he was aware that he was doing the wrong thing and was capable of controlling his actions.
