The latest CoreLogic home value data suggests the cost of buying a home in Canberra is stabilising, but there are significant differences between the cost of a house and a unit in the capital.

The cost of buying a home in Canberra appears to be stabilising, with the median house value just shy of $968,000, a dip of 0.3 per cent in the last month.

Among capital cities, Canberra is the third most expensive market for overall dwellings, with a median price of about $845,000. The data suggested Canberra's units, however, are decreasing in value, down 2.3 per cent over the last year to about $580,000.
