A dozen residents and staff at an aged care facility in the New South Wales central west have tested positive to COVID-19.

A resident at the Gosling Creek Aged Care facility in Orange tested positive for the virus after displaying flu-like symptoms. During subsequent testing, a further six residents and five staff have returned positive results, and will subsequently have to isolate over Christmas."Eighty-six per cent of Gosling Creek residents are fully vaccinated, and 68 per cent of those have received their booster shot," a spokesperson said."Currently there are no residents feeling unwell."The COVID-positive residents will be required to isolate over Christmas at the facility.

All residents have been told to remain inside their rooms for their own protection until given clearance by the local public health unit."We have taken all necessary measures and placed our home in precautionary lockdown.""Until we know how long we will need to manage the outbreak, we are encouraging families to stay in touch via Zoom video calls."
