John Pesutto has vowed to fight on as Victorian Liberal leader as he faces further defamation action and renewed speculation about his future in the role.

Rumours continue to run rampant that Mr Pesutto's tenure as Opposition Leader is under threat amid concerns about his judgement and poor polling in the job.

"Let me make my position very clear, I'm determined to lead a Liberal Party and a Coalition that will win the next election in 2026. Our state needs new leadership.
