Every search for a bit of colour and fun was turning up empty handed. \n\nExcept the “Boat for Trump” Parades.\n\nThe parades are a relatively new phenomenon. A few places claim to have started the idea, but they really took off in Florida. This year, no pandemic was going to slow these supporters down. \n\nSo we decided to go check one out. Our unscientific search for a boat parade lead us to a sizeable looking one in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. In the north east of the state, this is a major centre for the industrial workers and manufacturers who flipped from Democrat to Trump in 2016. \n\nThe fact Donald Trump held a rally here at the beginning of the Democratic Convention, which had all but abandoned its technical base of Milwaukee, is the surest sign this town matters.\n\nDriving in, we’d had zero luck getting anyone to respond to our phone calls, texts, emails or Facebook messages. So we bought a carton of beer and hoped for the best. \n\nAbout 2 minutes in we found a woman out walking and explained we wanted to join the parade.
