Universities are for the first time offering students early entry based on their year 11 work from this year.
High school students most disadvantaged by the coronavirus pandemic and summer bushfires will be among those offered an early place at university even if they don't get enough marks.
Annalise McKewen, a year 12 student at Gilroy College in Castle Hill, is hoping to get a place at Western Sydney University through the program to study communications and public relations while pursuing a career in music. "I’m looking into my options right now, including early offer programs that can give me certainty and assess me on my strengths."
UNSW Vice-Chancellor Ian Jacobs said students would benefit from the academic support its Gateway program offered and from having an early conditional offer well before they started their HSC.
