Sky News host Peter Gleeson says it is clear this pandemic has pitted the city up against the bush and as usual, it’s the regions that have come off second best.
He said “city-centric pen pushers” with little or no knowledge of certain areas, or the challenges emanating from those areas, have been making decisions which “penalise and hurt country communities”. It comes as regional Victoria will be set free from radical lockdowns on Thursday and be allowed to leave their homes without needing to give police a reason.
Mr Gleeson said the long-awaited lockdown concessions for regional Victoria are welcome news but questioned “why did it have to get to this?” “As the PM has said NSW is the gold standard in dealing with this crisis. It’s not unremarkable to observe it is run by a conservative government, that has its eye firmly on containing the virus, while at the same time being cognisant of the fiscal implications”. “That’s why Andrews, Palaszczuk, and McGowan must be condemned.
