Regional Victoria will be set free from radical lockdowns on Thursday and be allowed to leave their homes without needing to give police a reason. Under the third step, four essential reasons to leave home will no longer apply and school will see a staggered return from term four. Outdoor gathering limits will increase to allow up to 10 people to meet outside, with a “household bubble” introduced to allow up to five visitors into a nominated home.
“It is such good news, I am so, so pleased and proud of every single regional Victorian who has stayed the course, followed the rules, got tested,” he said. “This is a great day for regional Victoria.” Up to 10 people will be allowed to attend a wedding and 20 mourners able to attend a funeral. All community sport will also resume for children and non-contact sport for adults.
