Grandfather-of-four, Alan Bugden, collapsed in 2015 after suffering a stroke in the toilets of the Royal North Shore Hospital and wasn't found until the next day when a cleaner forced her way in.It was too late to administer the clot busting medication which could have saved his life."There should be a notification that if they're in there longer than 20 minutes a light goes off with a sign that if this is flashing please notify the nearest nurse," Ms Budgen told 9News.
"He was five minutes away from the casualty section, but because of the stupid system of the toilets he was there for 22 hours."The inquest heard the local area health service had considered their calls for sensors which alerted staff if a toilet was occupied for a lengthy time, but determined the cost was too high.
