Greens leader Adam Bandt has accused Labor of putting a “handbrake on future governments” to improve climate action as the party continues its negotiations with the government over its 2030 emissions reduction target.
The minor party has used its bolstered parliamentary numbers to threaten to block Labor’s flagship Climate Change Bill which would enshrine its 43 per cent emission reduction target by 2030 as well as net zero emissions by 2050 into law.

Labor has countlessly rejected calls to at least temporarily ban new fossil fuel projects, but the Greens have threatened to torpedo the entire bill unless its fears are addressed.
