When Texas zookeepers counted their animals on Friday morning, they realised their clouded leopard named Nova was missing.
A missing clouded leopard, who shut down the Dallas Zoo and set off a criminal investigation, has been found after police said there was evidence her fence had been "intentionally" cut.Police reviewed surveillance footage and began a criminal investigationIt was discovered the cat named Nova was missing when staff at Texas's largest zoo checked the enclosure on Friday morning, local time.
Police and zoo officials said they reviewed surveillance footage during the search but would not say what it showed or whether there were potential suspects."We have started a criminal investigation." Sergeant Mitchell said Dallas police at first dispatched SWAT officers to the zoo, not understanding the size of a clouded leopard.
Police drones helped search the zoo grounds, including trees, which Mr Edell said clouded leopards liked to climb.Another clouded leopard at the zoo, Nova's sister, was still in its habitat. Most notably, a 154kg gorilla named Jabari jumped over a wall in 2004 and went on a 40-minute rampage that injured three people before police shot and killed the animal.
